Gamers and people who use weak home systems can usually run the game easily by making a series of adjustments and reducing the quality of the game. But this is a bit more difficult for mobile, tablet and tablet users due to limitations in changing settings. Method 2: To improve system performance when running computer games, the services section of the operating system must be optimized. The best and easiest way to access the Windows 10 Services section is through the Start menu. Just search for “Services.exe” in Start and press “Enter”. In this case, the services section of the operating system will appear for you. So, you can disable services that you never use or that you find unnecessary.
It is recommended that you make a backup of your existing settings before making any changes. In this way, to prevent damage to the operating system, in the case of services that you do not know how to operate, put them in Automatic mode and do not disable the system to use these services when needed.
Another way to access the Services section and view active services is to search for the phrase “Msconfig.exe” in the Start menu and press the “Enter” key. Then, the System Configuration tool will appear, which is enough to cancel unnecessary system services, go to the “Services” tab and check the Hide all Microsoft services option. This will hide all the essential services that the system depends on, and you can view and disable unnecessary services active on the system.
• Startup Section Optimization
To access the Startup section, you must use the Ctr + Alt + Del key combination. In this case, the Task manager will appear, then go to the Startup tab and disable the software that you are sure will work and deactivate it will not harm the system and do not touch the rest. After making the changes, restart the system to see the effect.
Operating system and software testing
In the latest Windows 10 update, Avast, Stream, MS Office, Photoshop, Chrome, Dropbox software, and the latest version of the 128 GHz M.2 SATA drivers are available by default.

In the desired system, the test was performed on three games while all the programs in the Startup section and all the usual system services were running. Then, the same test was performed in the optimized mode, which showed the higher efficiency of the system in the optimized test, and successive freezes and logs in the normal mode.
If the optimization was not done, the programs and services were stopped or by using a combination of management tasks including using the Task Manager and the program management system and Service Manager, etc., the maximum execution time was increased to 2 minutes, which after it rebooted the system. To perform the test in the optimized system mode, all applications and services were disabled along with all unnecessary applications, and most background processing, leaving only the “Explorer” window to run test scenarios.
Torchlight Game Test
Torchlight is a popular game for laptop users that does not require very strong hardware to run. You can maximize Torchlight in daytime mode with a base resolution of 1366 8 768 and activating the shading system in the main panel.

In these tests, the frame rate was usually more than 30, but when facing enemies, we often encountered inconsistencies and slowness of movement, especially when the number of enemies increased. In some cases, even frames were displayed with a 30-second delay. When testing this game in optimized mode and normal mode, there was a difference of about 3 to 6 frames per second between the pages, which indicates a 10 to 20% increase in system performance. This value is sufficient to make it easier to understand the system and not to hang the system, and clearly shows the improvement in system performance.
Test of the Left 4 Dead 2 Game
Our second test case is Valve’s popular Left 4 Dead 2 game. Design of this game is in the style of action and adventure, and the prediction is that running this game on our Lenovo laptop will be a bit difficult. When performing this test, regardless of the background stream, the L4D2 of the game appears to normally require more hardware resources to run than Torchlight. As usual, we will test Left 4 Dear 2 in two different environments. First: when the main character of our story is in a house and second: when our main character is in a street. In these two environments, we will look at issues such as gameplay, frame rate, and possible game logs.
• Test in standard settings mode
Our Lenovo laptop was able to run this game in the minimum amount of settings available in the main panel of the game and with the specifications of 30 frames per second for indoor environment and 25 frames per second for outdoor environment with a resolution of 1366×768. But successive pauses, consecutive logs, and regiments are more noticeable than in Torchlight, and we can’t say whether we enjoyed the game in standard mode or not.
• Test in optimized settings mode
In the optimized system settings mode, the results are amazing. Although the frame rate ratio was about 4 to 10 frames per second, the results obtained for testing this game were really unexpected. Needless to say, during testing, we sometimes encountered unnecessary jumps and pauses in the system, and in most cases, the gameplay was smooth and fast, which made the game more enjoyable.
Test of Dirt 3 Game
• Test in standard settings mode
The third item we tested was the popular Dirt 3 racing game. Although the game applies settings to your system by default, so for best results, we decided to minimize the resources used in the game. In the default settings, the game ran at 28 frames per second, which we reduced to a minimum of 21 frames per second. Running this game compared to the other two games put more pressure on the system and sometimes the system was not able to meet the demands of the game. Although racing-style games are more compatible with systems with low hardware power, there was no such approach in this game.
• Test in optimized settings mode
By applying the optimized settings in Dirt 3 game, the average score of the system increases by 10%, but to run this game in the conditions of minimum use of system resources, this amount should have reached 20%, which we did not see. Applying optimized settings to run Dirt 3 game was also effective, as evidenced by test results. Applying optimized settings in all three games evaluated indicates the success and positive impact of these settings on a smoother and better gameplay.
Final step of testing
After the definitive results of the tests, you might expect to achieve similar results with software such as 3DMARK, but this was not the case. In some cases, the results obtained are not comparable to the 3DMARK predictions. But in the tests we do, the actual results are valuable to us, not the predictions that software like 3DMARK shows us. Software predictions such as 3DMARK are unlikely to be more accurate than the results of our actual tests. Needless to say, 3DMARK also provides us with valuable information. According to the results obtained from 3DMARK software, under normal conditions, if we do not consider the optimized criteria in systems, the results obtained from systems with normal settings and systems with optimized settings will not be much different. This means that the same hardware systems were used in the tests performed. Due to the results of tests performed in real environment and the results obtained from software such as 3DMARK, if we configure the appropriate optimization settings in systems with low hardware power, then it will face a significant increase in system efficiency. In the tests performed on the three game titles in this article, the optimal system settings led to an increase in system efficiency and a smoother gameplay, which was fully confirmed and evident. All the solutions introduced in this article should be used as a second option. If you have a system with weak hardware power, the first solution will always be to upgrade that system.
